Memphis Announces Football Promotional Schedule
Aug 10, 2016 | Football
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis athletic department today announced the marketing and promotional schedule for the seven-game 2016 home football season, highlighted by themes, giveaways, community outreach, and concession-stand specials.
"Over the past four years, we have greatly enhanced our game-day presentation," said Memphis Director of Athletics Tom Bowen. "We expect this to be our best year to date with an enriched in-game atmosphere, fun promotions, and great giveaways."
The season begins with three home games in September, the first on Saturday, September 3rd at 6 p.m. against Southeast Missouri. This is the annual partnership with Kroger and the special $5 ticket deal at all area Kroger stores. These tickets will go on sale on August 16th and $1 from each ticket sold goes towards the Million Meals Challenge and the Mid-South Food Bank.
The second home game will be an 11 a.m. kickoff on ESPNU on September 17th against Big 12 foe Kansas. This game will be marketed as Memphis State Day and the team will wear special helmet decals depicting the Memphis State logo. Fans are encouraged to get in touch with our rich history and wear their favorite Memphis State throwback gear. In additional, First Tennessee Bank will give out a free Memphis State hat to the first 10,000 fans in attendance.
Game three is the following Saturday against Bowling Green and will be a salute to the 901 area code. We will tempt your taste buds with a special family plan, as well as a concession stand special. Once in the stadium, all fans will be able to take advantage of a $2 hot dog deal all game long.
The fourth home game of the season is also the home opener of American Athletic Conference play, as the Tigers host rival Temple for a nationally-televised game on a Thursday night. The game is October 6th and will kick off at 7 p.m. on ESPN. This will be a white out game and all fans are strongly encouraged to wear white to the game. If that is not enough to get you to the game, the first 10,000 fans will receive an amazing mini helmet keepsake, courtesy of Ashley Homestore.
Game five of the seven-game home slate will be our homecoming game. This will be a unique celebration, as we will combine it with our annual breast cancer awareness game. A game-day shirt combining our school colors and our tribute to breast cancer awareness and research will be available in the region. Homecoming is Saturday October 29th against Tulsa.
Two weeks later on November 12th, your Tigers will host USF and celebrate our brave men and women as part of military and first responder's appreciation day. Tiger fans have been purchasing special $10 tickets for military and first responder's families throughout the summer, and these tickets will be available for free to these men and women for this special tribute game.
The final home game of the season will be on Friday, November 25th on national TV against rival Houston. This game will be played on Black Friday and in addition to Senior Day activities, fans are encouraged to wear black to the game. Tiger fans will also be able to purchase a special black event t-shirt. FedEx is the sponsor of this game.
Finally, in partnership with the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, the Tigers will have an early bird special at the concession stands. Beginning when gates open and ending 45 minutes prior to kickoff, fans that get in the stadium early will have access to limited concession deals. More promotions and marketing efforts will be added as the season progresses.
Season tickets are available now and start at just $100, while newly installed chairback seats are just $250, plus a small per-seat donation. For ticket information, visit www.GoTigersGoTix.com or call 901-678-2331.
Fans are encouraged to wear Memphis blue and gray to all home games, with the exception of the white out game against Temple and the black out game against Houston.
