Season Tickets Available for Tubby Smith’s First Season at Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis athletic department has announced that season tickets for the 2016-17 men's basketball season are now on sale through the Memphis ticket office located at the Penny Hardaway Hall of Fame, at 570 Normal Street, or online at www.gotigersgotix.com.
The Tigers open a new era of Memphis basketball in the 2016-17 season under legendary coach Tubby Smith, who took control of the program on April 14.
Smith, who has 557 career wins, has taken five schools to the NCAA Tournament, a feat that only he and Lon Kruger (current head coach of Oklahoma) have done in collegiate basketball history. He is a three-time National Coach of the Year, and was most recently named the Big 12 Coach of the Year. He has led teams to one National Championship, four NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearances, nine NCAA Sweet 16 appearances, and 17 overall NCAA Tournament berths.
He was recently named a recipient of the John R. Wooden Award for high standards of coaching, and the Mannie Jackson Basketball's Human Spirit Award from the Basketball Hall of Fame.
The Tigers return seven players who started at least one game from last season, including 2016 American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year Dedric Lawson. Also back are Memphis natives Markel Crawford, Jeremiah Martin, K.J. Lawson, and Jake McDowell. The Tigers also added three highly anticipated additions including graduate transfer Christian Kesse, junior college transfer Jimario Rivers, and Florida First Team All-State selection Keon Clergeot.
Season tickets to Tiger basketball can be purchased online at Gotigerstix.com, or by visiting the athletic ticket office. Fans can also call 901-678-2331 and talk to a ticket office staff member to answer any questions.
