The pair are the second and third in program history to earn All-Region Honors
EUGENE, Ore. – Memphis senior Thomas Perrot and junior Lars van Meijel have each been named to the 30-person PING Southeast Region Team, announced on Sunday (May 29) afternoon.
The duo joins Jonathan Fly from 2012 as the program's only three All-Region honorees in Memphis men's golf history.
Perrot and van Meijel ended the 2015-16 season with nearly identical scoring averages, and both at the top of the program single-season record book, each averaging 71.8 strokes per round. van Meijel edged out his teammate for the scoring average record by averaging 71.759 strokes per round, while Perrot averaged 71.827, with van Meijel finishing with just two total fewer strokes on the season over an identical number of rounds.
The pair also end their careers with the second and third lowest career scoring averages, van Meijel at 72.6 and Perrot at 73.2, with only Fly ahead of them at 72.3 over his time with the Tigers.
van Meijel, who is expected to start his professional career after the completion of his time as a member of Team Europe for the Arnold Palmer Cup, had seven top-20 finishes in 10 total events during the season, including carding a school-record 65 during the fall season. Over the ten tournaments, he finished with a total aggregate season score of one stroke over par. In addition to earning a spot on the Arnold Palmer Cup team, he was also named a semifinalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award, given to the National Player of the Year.
Perrot, who closed the year with an even-par three-round score at the NCAA Kohler Regional, had seven top-20 finishes during the season, and outside of a one-round anomaly at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational, did not card a score higher than 75 during the season.
Both van Meijel and Perrot were also named to the All-American Athletic Conference squad at the conclusion of the season.
