Tiger Trio Named All-Conference

Grudzielanek, Little and Tubbs recognized by league coaches
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Memphis trio of Brandon Grudzielanek, Jake Little and Darien Tubbs have been named to the All-American Athletic Conference second team, the league office announced Monday.
"After seeing this league for three years now and the quality of the players that are in this league it's a tremendous honor to have recognition for those three guys," Memphis head coach Daron Schoenrock said. "I'm happy that the other coaches in the league recognize the year's that those three had."
Grudzielanek has started every game in the infield this season after transferring to Memphis. The junior from Prosper, Texas, is batting .287 with 34 runs scored and 21 runs batted in while starting games at second base, shortstop and third base. Grudzielanek is also fifth on the team with nine stolen bases.
Little, one of the Tigers' six seniors, leads the team in hitting with a .314 average and 66 hits while starting every game in the outfield. The Franklin, Tenn. native, has scored 35 runs, driven in 27 and his 12 stolen bases are third on the team. Little is completing a decorated career in which he was named a to the C-USA All-Freshman team in 2013, the American all-conference third team in 2014 and now the second team in 2016.
Tubbs is batting .301 with 11 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 37 runs scored and 21 RBI. The junior centerfielder from Cookeville, Tenn., is third in the American with 21 stolen bases on 22 attempts. Tubbs closed the regular season on a five-game hitting streak and has a hit in 11 of the last 12 games. In that stretch he also has five doubles and seven stolen bases.
Memphis (19-37, 9-15 American) claimed the No. 6 seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament where the Tigers will take on the No. 3 seed UConn at 2 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, May 25.
