Tigers Add Graduate Transfer Christian Kessee

Kessee led Coppin State in scoring, three-pointers made, and free throw percentage
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – New Memphis men's basketball head coach Tubby Smith has announced the addition of Christian Kessee for the 2016-17 season.
Kessee played the last season at Coppin State and led the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game, while making 88 three-pointers and making 39.5 percent of his three-point field goals. He hit 64-of-80 free throws (80 percent), and 150-of-385 overall from the field (39 percent) last season.
He reached double-figure scoring 25 times during the year, including scoring 20 or more points six times. He set a career-high with 27 points on two occasions, against South Carolina State on February 6 and on February 13 against Howard. He made at least one three-pointer in 30 of 31 games, including five or more in seven of his final 12 games of the season.
The 6-2 guard also pulled down at least five rebounds four times on the year including a career-high eight against North Carolina A&T, and dishing out three or more assists nine times. Over his last 10 games of the year he averaged 19.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, and made 40-of-93 three-pointers (43 percent).
As a sophomore, the Las Vegas native averaged 9.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, including scoring 20 or more points three times, with a season high of 24 coming against Delaware State on March 5. As a freshman he played in 18 games, averaging 1.7 points and 0.9 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per game, including a then-career-high eight points against Ohio Valley.
