Hosting A Hope to Dream Event, Saturday.
MEMPHIS -- With summer right around the corner, many kids are studying hard to finish the school year out strong. And, for 100 kids, Ashley HomeStore, in conjunction with The University of Memphis, is going to give them one more thing to make the summer even better – an entire bed set – on Saturday, May 14, 2016.
Â
Ashley HomeStore and the University of Memphis football team are hosting the second annual "Hope to Dream" event at Liberty Bowl Stadium, located at 335 S. Hollywood Street. One hundred kids that do not have beds will receive an entire bed set. Each bed set includes a twin mattress set, sheets, and comforter. In addition, BedGear has donated 100 pillows to complete the bed sets.
Â
"A Hope to Dream" is an initiative started by Ashley Homestore to provide children in the community who do not have a bed to call their own – their very own bed. A portion of all mattress sales at Ashley Homestore goes toward supporting the "Hope to Dream" program.
Â
Chad Spencer, President of the Dufresne Spencer Group-the largest licensee of Ashley HomeStores, is passionate about this program and is thrilled to be able to make a difference in local communities. "We can have the greatest product at the best price, but if we don't serve the guest and give back to the community that supports us, we are spiritually bankrupt as a company. That's why events like this and Hope to Dream are so important to us at Ashley HomeStore" says Spencer.
Â
The event also includes a youth football camp run by the University of Memphis football team, a pizza party, interactive selfie booth, and gift bags for each of the children provided by Ashley HomeStore.
Â
The event begins Saturday at 10:30am (CT) with check in, followed by a welcome, and then mini youth football camp from 11:00am-12:00pm on the field at the stadium. At 12:15pm (CT), Head Football Coach Mike Norvell and an Ashley executive are scheduled to speak at a press conference, before revealing that the kids will be surprised with their very own bed set to take home. The kids will then have a pizza party, complete with visits from a few Memphis cheerleaders and Pouncer.
The event's festivities wrap up at 1:00 p.m. (CT). For more information on Saturday's "Hope to Dream" event, contact Casey Slagle at cslagle@dsghome.com.
