Ole Miss Match Rescheduled, Tigers Host Vandy Saturday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Wednesday's match between Memphis and Ole Miss has been rescheduled for Monday, April 18 at 7 p.m. at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The Tigers will turn their attention to their match with Vanderbilt Saturday at noon on the Park Avenue Campus.
Memphis played two 45-minute matches against UAB and Mississippi State last week with both ending in a goalless draw.
"In the first game I thought we came out a little sluggish and couldn't get things going. It wasn't terrible I just didn't feel like we were on the same page. I thought we got better as the day went on. From a defensive standpoint I thought we were very solid. We have improved since our first spring game. The focus in the spring is on individual improvement and I'm seeing a lot of positives in that area," Monaghan said.
The Commodores represent a familiar opponent despite not playing since 2014. Memphis and Vandy played every season from 2011-14 but did not play last year.
"We get to play an SEC opponent and an opponent that will challenge us in some areas. That's what has been so good for us this spring, to see some of these young players get challenged against quality opponents. Some of them have really been able to hold their own. What this does big picture is make us deeper," said Monaghan.
The Tigers will close out the spring by playing in a mini-tournament at UT Martin on Saturday, April 16 before hosting Ole Miss Monday April 18 at 7 p.m. at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
