Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at Rebel Intercollegiate

MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's golf team posted a Sunday 291, which tied for the team low round on the day, to finish sixth of 15 participating teams at the Rebel Intercollegiate.

Sophomore Emily Goldenstein posted her seventh career top 10 finish, and her third this year, carding a 70 (-2) on Sunday to finish tied for ninth overall with a 54-hole 221. Five birdies on Sunday helped Goldenstein move in to the top 10 in the final standings.

Freshman Sydney Colwill carded a 74 on Sunday to finish 17^th overall with a 224. The finish is the freshman's third career top 20 finish and ties for her best finish of the spring semester.

Memphis' other freshman, Madison Thomas, posted an even par 72 on Sunday to move to a tie for 26^th overall. The third round 72 is just one stroke off Thomas' career low round of 71, which came in the third round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Colorado back in the fall.

Senior Julia Gerlach closed her final regular season round with a 76 for a 54-hole total of 232, finishing in a tie for 45^th overall.

Leighann Cabush also carded her best round of the tournament on Sunday, scoring a 75 to finish in a tie for 56^th overall.

Memphis' two individual competitors started and finished the day tied. Andrea Cropper and Megan Beane finished in a tie for 77^th overall with a 240 for the three-day event. Both were +7 on the day.

Memphis will now prepare for the American Athletic Conference championship tournament, which will be held Apr. 17-19^th in Palm Coast, Florida.

On Friday, the team will have its annual Golf Scramble fundraiser at Galloway Golf Course. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. and shotgun tee times begin at 12:30 p.m.
