MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis scored one run in the ninth but it was too little, too late as UCF won 7-1 Sunday at FedExPark and took the American Athletic Conference opening series. The Tigers (10-17) will be back in action Wednesday against Arkansas at AutoZone Park.

The Knights opened the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run to right field to extend their lead and scored an additional run each in the fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth innings to make the lead 7-0.
Memphis got three singles in the ninth inning to get on the board. Jake Little drove in Trent Turner to score the run.
Matt Ferguson started and pitched five innings, allowing five runs on six hits. The loss dropped his record to 3-4 this season. Drew Crosby pitched two scoreless innings of relief with two hits allowed. James Muse, Trey McNickle and Alex Hicks combined to pitch the final two innings. s
