Criticos, Greenlee Post First-Place Performances At War Eagle Invite Friday

Criticos sets men's javelin school record.
AUBURN, Ala. – University of Memphis sophomore Michael Criticos won the men's javelin with a school-record throw to lead the Tigers in Friday action at Auburn University's War Eagle Invitational. Chardae Greenlee paced the women's squad with a first-place finish in the triple jump.
Criticos, who had come within a couple of feet of the school record earlier this outdoor season, surpassed the previous school mark by nearly three feet with his first-place throw of 233-5 (71.16m). Criticos' mark bested the previous record of 230-6 (70.27m) set by Kyle Bynum in 2012.
Criticos' 233-5 mark ranks him among the nation's top-25 in the javelin this season.
In other action on the men's side, senior Corentin Louis ran a personal-best 3:46.08 in the 1500 meters (invitational). He placed sixth in the event.
For the Tigers women's team, Greenlee led the charge in her triple jump win with a season-best 42-6 (12.95m) mark. It was Greenlee's fourth top-three performance in as many meets this outdoor campaign. She also won the triple jump title at the Mar. 25 Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational.
Sydney Wright was Memphis' second-highest finisher in the women's triple jump. She placed sixth with a personal-best jump of 39-8.5 (12.10m).
Other top performances on the women's side were: Ashley Pryke fourth in the javelin, Martina Rodriguez Sala sixth in the 1500 meters (invitational) and Chelsea Ladd seventh in the 5000 meters. Ladd's 5000 meters time of 16:55.98 was a personal best, shattering her previous top time in the event by 27 seconds (17:22.98).
The Tigers men's and women's squads continue action at Auburn's War Eagle Invitational Saturday.
