AUSTIN, Texas – University of Memphis junior Martina Rodriguez Sala set a school record in the 1500-meter run at the 89th annual Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Saturday.
The Texas Relays returned to action Saturday with a revamped schedule after inclement weather in the Austin area Thursday and Friday forced many events to be held on the final day.
Rodriguez Sala finished third in the 1500-meter run in a school-record time of 4:20.46. She broke her own record of 4:22.72 which she set last season.
In other action Saturday, senior Carolina Carmichael placed fifth in the pole vault/section A with a mark of 14-1.25 (4.30m). In the pole vault/section B event, Clara Amat-Fernandez was ninth with a vault of 13-3.75 (4.06m).
On the men's side, Luke Vaughn competed in the discus late Friday night as a result of the delayed schedule. Vaughn placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 188-1 (57.33m).
