MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Burke Fahling, a forward from Kirkland, Washington, has signed a national letter of intent with the University of Memphis men's soccer team, head coach Richard Mulrooney announced Monday.
"Burke is a player who contacted us over the fall and we took a couple opportunities to watch him play at the Academy Showcase in the fall and were very impressed with his play," Mulrooney said. "He is a player that is very quick, agile, and deceptive with and without the ball. He can play on both sides of the wing or in the middle of the field. He has the ability to take players off the dribble as well as makes very sophisticated run's in behind that can stretch a defense and put them on their heels.
Fahling was a first team All-State player at Inglemoor High School and helped lead his team to third place in the state playoffs. He scored 16 goals last season and was the leading scorer in King County. Fahling has also earned King County Most Valuable Player and Seattle Times All-Area recognition while playing for Inglemoor.
He has played for two academy teams during his career, suiting up for Crossfire Premier Soccer Club and Seattle Sounders Academy. Fahling was a member of a U-17 Regional Finalist team and U-15 semifinalist team.
"Burke can score goals or create them for others and should make this a lethal attack for years to come. He is a player who we expect to come in and immediately challenge for minutes," said Mulrooney.
Fahling joins Adam Bruce (D/M – Brentwood, Tenn.), Max Lichtenstein (GK – Boca Raton, Fla.), Chris Mikus (M – Cumming, Ga.), Jackson Morse (M – Plano, Texas), Aaron Osborne (D – Savannah, Ga.), Remington Pimm (F/M – Land O' Lakes, Fla.), Noah Thomas (F/M – Dacula, Ga.) and Sean Gouveia (F – Belleville, Ill.) as a member of the 2016 signing class.
