Tigers Rifle Defeats Ole Miss 4644-4622 Tuesday

Fister sweeps smallbore, air rifle, aggregate individual titles.
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – University of Memphis' Amy Fister made it a sweep of individual titles in helping lead the No. 9 Tigers to a 4644-4622 neutral-site match victory over Mid-South rival and No. 15 Ole Miss Tuesday. The match was held at Jacksonville State University's Rifle Range.
Results became official late Tuesday night.
Tuesday's encounter also was a Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) match. Tuesday was the first head-to-head match between the two programs this season, but the Tigers also finished ahead of the Rebels in four earlier invitationals/opens.
In Tuesday's match, Memphis swept the team smallbore and air rifle disciplines. The Tigers defeated Ole Miss 2295-2291 in smallbore and 2349-2331 in air rifle.
Fister won the smalllbore, air rifle and aggregate titles in Tuesday's match. The junior shot a 584 in smallbore and tied a career high with a 590 in air rifle. Her aggregate score of 1174 was a career best, two points better than her previous career high of 1172 which she set at November's JSU Gamecock Invitational.
Senior Beth Lee was second in both air rifle (588) and aggregate score (1165). Sophomore Haylea Broughton was second overall in smallbore with a 577 and placed third in aggregate score (1161).
Tuesday's match was the Tigers' final tune-up before the postseason starts with the NCAA Sectional Qualifier at Murray State Feb. 21. The following week (Feb. 26-28), Memphis competes at the GARC Championships in Oxford, Miss.
