Third honor roll accolade for Hearn this season.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis' Ariel Hearn has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday.
It is her third conference weekly honor roll recognition this season and the ninth of her career. In addition, Hearn has been named the league's Player of the Week twice this season.
In the Tigers' only game last week, Hearn helped lead Memphis to a come-from-behind 54-51 victory over rival Cincinnati.
The Memphis, Tenn., native had a game-high 17 points and added four rebounds, one assist and two steals while playing nearly all 40 minutes in the contest. Hearn scored nine of her 17 points in the final 5:12 of the game, including 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the game's final 45 seconds.
In the game-ending 11-4 run, Hearn accounted for nine of the Tigers' 11 points. Hearn's three-pointer at the 5:12 mark began the spurt, and her jumper with 3:35 left gave Memphis its first lead since the 6:30 of the second period. The 5-foot-8 guard's four free throws were the final points in the Tigers' 54-51 win.
With her four rebounds and one assist against the Bearcats, Hearn made school history. The senior is the only player – male or female – in Memphis basketball history to have 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists. Hearn now has 1,821 points, 501 rebounds and 400 assists for her career.
Hearn is in the top-10 on the Tigers all-time charts for scoring (10th), assists (4th), steals (7th), three-pointers made (3rd), starts (5th) and minutes played (2nd).
Memphis (13-10, 7-5 The American) returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 10 when it travels to Orlando, Fla., to face UCF (5-18, 2-10 The American) in a conference match-up. Game time is 6 p.m. (CT) from CFE Arena.
