Women’s Golf Finishes 10th at Amelia Island Collegiate

Second career top 20 finish for freshman Colwill.
MEMPHIS – Freshman Sydney Colwill posted a top 20 finish and the Memphis women's golf team finished 10th in its first spring tournament at the Amelia Island Collegiate, Tuesday. Colwill finished tied for 17th with a third round 75 (+3) to finish with a 223 (+7) for the event. As a team, Memphis carded a third round 313 to finish with a 918 (+54) over 54 holes.
The finish for Colwill is her second career top 20 finish in just her fourth collegiate event. She finished fourth at the season-opening Memphis Intercollegiate back in September.
Junior Leighann Cabush finished tied for 44th with a 230 (78-75-77) while senior Julia Gerlach finished tied for 46th with a 231 (74-74-83). Emily Goldenstein (238 – 80-79-79) and Madison Thomas (238 – 77-79-82) tied for 64th overall.
Senior Ashley Whisenant competed as an individual and carded a third round 76 to finish with a 228, which placed her tied for 34th overall.
North Florida captured the team title with an 879, while Daytona State's Ji Sun Kang grabbed individual medalist honors with a 215. A pair of 68s in the first and second round allowed Kang to hang on to the lead despite a third round 79, Tuesday.
Memphis will next play at the 3M Augusta Invitational in Georgia, Mar. 11-13th.
