Freshman Averaged 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds during the week
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis freshman Dedric Lawson has been named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for his performances during the week against UCF and South Florida.
The Memphis native averaged 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 43.5 percent (10-of-23) from the field, and 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the charity stripe. He also added four assists during the two games.
Against UCF he scored 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting, while pulling down 11 rebounds. He added two assists and a steal in the Tiger win.
In the weekend finale at South Florida, he scored a team-high-tying 17 points, pulling down 10 rebounds, and added two assists and a blocked shot.
This is Lawson's second career Honor Roll appearance, as he has also set an AAC record for the most Rookie of the Year honors won in a season.Â
He has five consecutive double-doubles, the 14th-longest such streak in school history, and his 13 double-doubles this season rank as the second-highest freshman total in school history, and the 20th-highest single season total, regardless of class. His 243 rebounds this season puts him 12 away from climbing into the top-10 freshman single-season totals in school history, while his 9.3 average has him at fourth in the school record books.
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, February 25, when the team hosts the SMU Mustangs in a 6 p.m. tip-off at FedExForum.
