Tigers Track And Field Wins Nine Events At Redhawks Invitational

Memphis turns focus to league championships next weekend.
Redhawks Invitational Final Results
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – In their final competition before the American Athletic Conference Championships next weekends, the University of Memphis men's and women's track and field squads posted nine first-place finishes and 10 personal bests at Southeast Missouri's Redhawks Invitational.
The meet was held Friday evening, and results became available late Friday night.
The Tigers women's team had five first-place performances, and the men four. On the women's side, Bailey Kennemer (mile), ToNaya Gulley (55m hurdles), Martine Bye (high jump), Carolina Carmichael (pole vault) and Sydney Wright (long jump) placed first in their respective events. Carmichael's pole vault title was her fourth of the indoor season.
Matthew Viveiros (800m), Luis Hanssler (55m hurdles), Jordan Wesner (high jump) and Yannik Schlay posted the first-place performances for the Tigers men's squad.
Seven performers on the Tigers women's squad had personal bests Friday. Kennemer (mile) and Gulley (55m hurdles) posted personal bests in winning their respective events. Other personal bests set were by Haleigh Montgomery (55m hurdles), Clara Amat-Fernandez (pole vault), Jada Parker (pole vault), Ofelia Carmichael (pole vault) and Ashley Pryke (shot put).
The men's three personal bests came from Davon DeMoss in the 55m, James Durkin in the mile and Michael Criticos in the weight throw.
Memphis returns to action Feb. 28-29 at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. The Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala., is hosting this year's league meet.
