Tigers Track and Field Posts Three Top-10 Performances Friday

Memphis performers also set six personal bests at the Music City Challenge.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Three top-10 performances and six personal bests highlighted the University of Memphis track and field teams' first-day action at Vanderbilt University's Music City Challenge Friday evening. The two-day meet continues Saturday, with the action starting at 11 a.m. (CT).
Two of the three top-10 finishes came on the Tigers women's side, with sophomore Martine Bye recording the best performance on the first day. Her season-best jump of 5-5.75 (1.67m) gave her a fourth-place finish in the high jump. Junior Chardae Greenlee placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 41-5 (12.62m).
Sophomore Michael Criticos posted the men's only top-10 finish on the first day. His 44-11 (13.69m) weight throw toss was good enough for sixth place.
In addition to the three top-10 performances, six personal bests were set Friday. Lucas Miller (16th; 22.70), Christopher Walker (19th; 22.79) and Jason Kimmet (20th; 22.82) all recorded personal bests in the 200 meters. Freshman Davon DeMoss was the Tigers' highest finisher in the 200 meters, placing 11th in a time of 22.26.
In the women's 200 meters, freshman Haleigh Montgomery recorded her personal best with a time of 26.54. Junior Destinee Lansden was the squad's highest finisher in the women's 200 meters, crossing the line in 29th place (25.75).
Memphis' other two personal bests came in the women's triple jump. Freshman Nicole Lawson had a personal-best leap of 38-9.75 (11.83m) and placed 14th, and sophomore Sydney Wright was 15th with a personal-best jump of 38-6.75 (11.75m).
