Tigers Rifle Third At Last Weekend's Tri-Match

Dempster records season best in air rifle.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman Leighton Dempster recorded a season best, and senior Beth Lee and junior Amy Fister posted top-15 scores in both disciplines to lead the University of Memphis rifle squad's effort at this past weekend's tri-match with Kentucky and Murray State.
The No. 9 Tigers finished third in the match with an aggregate score of 4644. No. 3 Kentucky and No. 2 Murray State tied with 4693 aggregate scores, but the Wildcats took the match with more center shots with 308 to the Racers' 289. Memphis placed third in both disciplines, shooting 2293 in smallbore and 2351 in air rifle.
Fister was the Tigers' top performer in smallbore, placing 12th with a 576. She also was the team's third-highest finisher in air rifle with a 588. Fister posted an aggregate score of 1164 and placed 11th overall.
Lee also had top-15 finishes in both disciplines, recording the team's second-highest performances in smallbore and air rifle. She was eighth in air rifle (589) and finished 14th in smallbore (573).
Dempster shot a season-best 591 and led the Tigers with a fifth-place finish in air rifle. It was the third time this season that Dempster recorded a season high in air rifle.
