Women’s Basketball Welcomes Louisiana Tech Monday Evening

Tigers look to build upon victory over Southeast Missouri last Friday
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After earning a victory against Southeast Missouri last Friday evening, the University of Memphis women's basketball team looks to win its second-straight game Monday with a contest against Louisiana Tech. Tip-off against the Lady Techsters is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The first 100 fans into the Fieldhouse Monday night will receive a custom Memphis Tigers Santa hat.

Memphis (4-6) vs. Louisiana Tech (5-4)

This is the second of five-straight home games for the Tigers. Memphis started the homestand last Friday against Southeast Missouri and will continue the stretch with Nicholls State on Dec. 21, Vanderbilt on Dec. 28, and Temple on Jan. 1. The Vanderbilt and Temple games are televised on ESPNU and ESPN2.
Against Southeast Missouri, junior forward Cheyenne Creighton posted her second-straight double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The 20-point performance is the second one of her career with the first coming against Southern Illinois on Dec. 11. She is averaging a team-high 14.9 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per contest. Creighton also registered a season-high two blocks against the Redhawks and finished the game shooting 8-for-10 from the floor.
Taylor Williams continues to play well at home this season after putting up 14 against the Redhawks Friday evening. She is averaging a team-high 15.8 points per game at home this year. She and Taylor Barnes led the team with five assists against Southeast Missouri. The five assists as a career-high for Barnes.
Against the Redhawks, sophomore forward Brianna Porter also had a career evening with her six offensive rebounds and eight total rebounds. Her previous career-high in rebounds was five matched earlier this season.

Monday's game will be the 11th meeting all-time between Louisiana Tech and Memphis with the Lady Techsters holding an 8-3 advantage over the Tigers. At the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, Memphis is 2-3 against Louisiana Tech.
On Feb. 11, 1984, back when Louisiana Tech was ranked No. 1 in the nation, Memphis State defeated the Lady Techsters in Memphis by a score of 72-69. The win against LA Tech in 1984 is the only victory against the No. 1 team in the nation in program history.
