Garibaldi’s Series Tied 1-1

Tigers play two close games in well-played series thus far
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Game 3 of the Garibaldi's Series is slated for Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at FedExPark, and the two teams are tied up 1-1 after Team Black Olive took the series opener and Team Green Pepper evened it up in Game 2.
Starting pitcher Connor Alexander and Colton Hathcock basically matched each other pitch-for-pitch in the early innings of Game 1 before Team Black Olive plated the first run of the series. In the bottom of the second, Nick Vaage singled to drive in Andy Bowman for a 1-0 lead.
Tyler Webb tied the game 1-1 in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to score Carlos Williams off of reliever Danny Denz.
Black Olive hit back in the seventh inning, touching up Tyler Walton for two runs to make the lead 3-1. Evan Bell and Cale Hennemann drove in the runs with RBI singles.
An RBI single by Alex Smith for Green Pepper cut the lead to 3-2 but Colton Neel slammed the door in the ninth to secure a 3-2 win for Black Olive. Neel was credited with the save and Danny Denz was the winning pitcher. Bell was named the offensive MVP of the game and Connor Alexander the defensive MVP.

In Game 2, lefthanders Tommy Morren and Hunter Smith squared off. Black Olive struck first with two runs in the third on three consecutive two-out hits. Chris Carrier drove in two with a triple.
Green Pepper responded in the bottom of the third by getting one run back with Tyler Webb driving in Alex Smith.
The game remained 2-1 until the top of the eighth inning when Colton Neel extended the Black Olive lead to 3-1 with a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the eighth, Carlos Williams tied the game up 3-3 when he lined a two-run double off of Bryan Cruse. Green Pepper finished the job, winning 4-3 on a walk-off single by Jason Santana in the bottom of the ninth.
Taylor Bobo earned the win with a scoreless top of the ninth inning. Williams was named the offensive MVP and Alex Hicks was the games defensive MVP after pitching two scoreless innings in relief.
