BOSTON, Mass. - University of Memphis sophomore Dedric Lawson has been named to the Lute Olson National Player of the Year Award, an award that is annually presented to the nation's top NCAA Division I player who has played at least two seasons. Transfers and incoming freshmen are not eligible for the preseason watch list.

Lute Olson won 780 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were spent at the University of Arizona. During that stretch he led the Wildcats to 11 Pac-10 Conference titles, 23 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, four Final Four appearances and a National Championship in 1997.
The Tigers open the 2016-17 regular season opens on Monday, November 14 when the team hosts the UTRGVÂ Vaqueros in a 7 p.m. tip-off at FedExForum.Â
