Tigers Rifle Climbs Three Spots In National Poll

Squad moves back in top-10
MURRAY, Ky. – The University of Memphis rifle squad jumped back into the top-10 of this week's Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll. The Tigers climbed three spots to No. 10 from its No. 13 position in last week's CRCA poll.
In 2016-17, the Tigers now have a 13-8 record against opponents ranked in the CRCA poll. Included in those 13 victories are road wins at No. 12 Army and No. 16 Navy in mid-October and wins over No. 15 Akron and No. 13 Ole Miss.
In addition, Memphis has a 5-2 mark against Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) foes, including road wins at Army and Navy. The other three GARC wins were over Ole Miss twice and Akron.
Memphis last competed Nov. 20 and placed second at the Gamecock Invitational. The Tigers shot their second-highest aggregate score of the season (4667) in the match. The Nov. 20 match closed Memphis' fall portion of its 2016-17 schedule.
TCU held on to the top spot in this week's poll. Murray State is No. 2, followed by West Virginia at No. 3, Kentucky at No. 4 and Air Force at No. 5.
All nine Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) programs are in the poll with West Virginia at No. 3, followed by No. 4 Kentucky, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 10 Memphis, No. 11 N.C. State, No. 12 Army, No. 13 Ole Miss, No. 15 Akron and No. 16 Navy.
Memphis returns to action in mid-January with a neutral-site match versus No. 4 Kentucky. The match is set to take place in Oxford, Miss.
