Riley Cabral Signs with Memphis Baseball
Nov 16, 2016 | Baseball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Riley Cabral, a right-handed pitcher from Chipola College in Florida, has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the University of Memphis baseball squad for the 2018 season, head coach Daron Schoenrock announced Wednesday.
"A huge priority in this class was to add pitchers that we feel can add immediate impact to our bullpen at the end of games. Riley is a huge key in obtaining that goal. He has a tremendous closer's mentality and with the ability to create swings and misses, we expect him to anchor the back end of our bullpen in 2018. We anxiously await Riley's arrival next fall," Schoenrock said.
Cabral, an Oklahoma City, Okla. native, posted a 4-4 record and one save in 20 appearances with five starts during 2016 for the Chipola Indians. He helped lead the team to the FCSAA state championship game last season. Cabral put together a stellar high school career at Carl Albert High School where he was named honorable mention all-state in 2015. During his senior season he posted a 7-1 record and a 1.72 ERA in 14 appearances. He was also a member of Team USA in 2010.
Cabral is the son of Sabrina and Johnny Cabral.
