Men's Basketball Ready for Short Turnaround Against Panthers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Tigers, fresh off of their season-opening win over UTRGV on Monday step back onto the court at FedExForum on Wednesday evening for the second game in three days, as the Tigers face off against the Panthers of Milwaukee.

Cameron Harvey and Jeremy Johnson each scored 11, while Jeremiah Bell added 10 off of the bench. Stull pulled down 11 rebounds for the double-double, with the Panthers dishing out 18 assists against just 11 turnovers, while forcing 13 turnovers of their own.

Milwaukee assistant coach Todd Townsend played his college basketball at former Conference USA foe Marquette, and went 0-2 against the Tigers during his four seasons. In the first of the two meetings, on February 14, 2004, Townsend played five minutes and did not record a statistic. The second of the two, on January 13, 2005, he came off the bench in 18 minutes of action, scored three points (1-of-2 from long range) while adding an assist, turnover, and steal. He played an additional game at FedExForum, as his Marquette squad fell 60-57 to TCU in the Conference USA Tournament. He scored 14 points with eight rebounds in the loss to the Horned Frogs on March 9, 2005.

Of the many players to put on the Blue and Gray for the University of Memphis include two former players who claimed Milwaukee as their hometown. The pair are Calvin Godfrey (2015), and Jermaine Ousley (1997-99). Additionally, one other former Tiger: Chris Hawkins (2015, Sun Prairie, Wis.) is from the state of Wisconsin.

The Horizon League hosts schools in six states along America's upper midwest. The league runs as far east as Youngstown State, as far south as Northern Kentucky, and as far north and west as Green Bay.

In the season opener, redshirt freshman K.J. Lawson scored 25 points, which was the most points scored in a season opener since 2007 when Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 28 points in the season opener.
