Ben Brooks Inks with Memphis Baseball

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ben Brooks, an infielder from Goodlettsville, Tenn., has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the University of Memphis baseball squad for the 2018 season, head coach Daron Schoenrock announced Tuesday.
"It has been thrilling to watch Ben's development as a shortstop. We feel that he can come in and impact our program both offensively and defensively in 2018. His leadership qualities are obvious, with the tremendous career he has had as a high school quarterback as well. We can't wait to get Ben to campus and watch his Tiger career unfold," Schoenrock said.
Brooks is an all-state player at Pope John Paul II High School, batting .408 with 42 hits and 31 runs scored last season. Also named the Region Player of the Year, he is a career .380 hitter with 124 hits and 105 runs scored. Brooks was a member of Team Tennessee in 2016, helping win the Junior Sunbelt Tournament in Oklahoma. He is also a two-time captain on the football team and holds several school passing records.
Brooks is the son of Jana and Sean Brooks.
