Jackson Morse Named To College Sports News National Team of the Week

Freshman midfielder was also the AAC Offensive Player of the Week
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- After earning the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, freshman midfielder Jackson Morse has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his key role in leading the Tigers to a 2-0 shutout win over RV/No. 25 UConn last weekend.

Morse was responsible for both goals this weekend, putting him at a team-high six on the season. The two goals scored was also a career-high and it was just the second time that a Memphis player scored more than one goal in a match (Raul Gonzalez vs. UCA).

Morse is just the second Tiger to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors since Memphis joined the league in 2013. Mark Sherrod was the first in Sept. 2013.

In the AAC, Morse ranks fourth overall in scoring and tied for first among freshmen in the league. He also leads the Tigers with 12 points.

Memphis has one more regular season match against Tulsa this upcoming Friday. Kick-off against the Golden Hurricane is slated for 7 p.m. in Tulsa, Okla.
