Memphis Rifle Defeats Navy Sunday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – University of Memphis' Levi Clark led four Tigers shooters in the top-five in aggregate score against Navy Sunday, lifting the visitors to a 4669-4648 victory over the Mids.
Memphis, ranked No. 10 in this week's Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll, won both disciplines over No. 14 Navy. The Tigers won narrowly won smallbore 2311-2307 and also took air rifle 2358-2341.
The Tigers had four of its shooters place in the match's top-five in aggregate score. Clark, a freshman, led the charge with an aggregate score of 1168 (580-588). He finished second overall in the match.
Junior Haylea Broughton, senior Amy Fister and sophomore Leighton Dempster were third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Broughton shot a 1166 (571-595), Fister a 1165 (577-588) and Dempster a 1164 (577-587).
Broughton placed first in the air rifle with her 595 score. The score was one point shy of tying her own school record of 596 which she set as a freshman versus Kentucky in the 2014-15 campaign. Fister was second in air rifle with a 588 score.
Senior Jack Berhorst won the smallbore discipline with a 583 score. Clark was third in smallbore at 580.
Navy's Daniel Jonas posted the match's top aggregate score at 1169 (582-587).
Memphis returns to action Monday, Oct. 10 when it continues its East Coast road swing at No. 13 Army in West Point, N.Y. The Tigers-Black Knights match-up is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. (CT).
