Oct 03, 2016 | Football
MEMPHIS – – In partnership with the University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music, the Memphis athletic department today announced that a new Tiger Lane concert series will commence with the national-televised football game on Thursday night against Temple.
The new concert series will feature University of Memphis music students and showcase some of the best music in the region. The series starts on Thursday night, October 6th, with a pre-game concert on Tiger Lane by The Band CAMINO.
"We are thrilled to partner with our campus community to bring live music back to Tiger Lane," said athletic director Tom Bowen. "There are many talented people at the University of Memphis and this is another way that we can use our game day experience to highlight the strengths of the entire campus."
The concert will begin shortly after Tiger Walk, which is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. The Band CAMINO (thebandcamino.com/home) has found recent momentum, releasing their debut EP "My Thoughts on You," building a strong local fan base, playing the Beale Street Music Festival, and landing on the Spotify Viral USA Chart. Formed in August of 2015, the band draws influence from giants of the current altrock scene The 1975, The Killers and Coldplay while channeling vibes of 80's pop and arena rock anthems.
"Tiger fans expecting to hear high energy, world class music will not be disappointed," said Assistant Professor of Music Business Ben Yonas. "These kids can play!"
The concert series will feature a different band for each of the remaining four home games and all concerts will be free.
Tiger Lane Concert Series Schedule:
10/6 The Band Camino
10/29 Sound Fuzion
11/12 Bluff City Soul Collective
11/25 Drew Erwin
