Klemm is the first men’s soccer player recognized since 2013
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis men's soccer forward Chandler Klemm has been named First Team Academic All-District as announced by CoSIDA Thursday afternoon. This is the first time since the 2013 season that the men's soccer team has had a player recognized academically by the Capital One Academic All-America program.
Â
Klemm, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., is a chemistry major at the UofM and carries a 3.79 GPA. This season, Klemm has tallied two goals and one assist in just under 700 minutes of action. In his Memphis career, Klemm has scored four goals with one game-winner.
Â
After transferring to Memphis in 2015, Klemm was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. He was also a member of the Tiger 3.0 Club in 2015-16.
Â
In order to be nominated for the Academic All-America award, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better in both undergrad and grad schools. The student-athlete must also participate in at least 50 percent of the team's matches.
Â
In program history, Klemm becomes the 15th player to be named to the Academic All-District Team. Now, the Academic All-America Committee and the CoSIDA Board of Directors and Staff will evaluate all of the First Team Academic All-District nominees to select the Academic All-America Teams. The Academic All-America Teams will be announced on November 22.
