Morgan Named To Conference's Volleyball Honor Roll

Tigers senior had 16 blocks in last weekend's two matches.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis senior Summer Morgan has been named to the American Athletic Conference Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday.
It is Morgan's first conference weekly honor roll recognition this season and the second of her career. She earned her first career weekly honor roll distinction in November of 2015.
This past weekend, Morgan helped lead the Tigers volleyball squad to a 1-1 mark. Memphis dropped a narrow 3-0 decision to conference leader SMU Oct. 14 and then posted a 3-1 victory over Tulsa Oct. 16.
For the weekend, Morgan recorded 16 blocks, 10 kills and seven digs. She had seven blocks in the hard-fought setback to SMU Oct. 14. In the Oct. 16 win over Tulsa, the Springdale, Ark., native tied a career best with nine blocks. Morgan also had seven kills vs. the Golden Hurricane.
Morgan leads the Tigers with 75 total blocks in 2016. She is third on the team in kills with 132. Among American Athletic Conference statistical leaders, Morgan is fifth in blocks at 1.09 per set. In league matches only, she is second blocks at 1.17 per set.
Memphis continues its four-match homestand this weekend when it welcomes Houston and Tulane to the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The Tigers host Houston Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. (CT) and Tulane Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. (CT).
