Women’s Golf Leading Following Day One at Memphis Intercollegiate

Lady Tigers have a one stroke lead heading in to Tuesday's final round.
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's golf team has a one stroke lead over Houston Baptist following the first two rounds of the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate, Monday. The event, being played at Ridgeway Country Club, will conclude, Tuesday, with one round of play starting with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m.
Both Memphis and Houston Baptist have a pair of players in the top five. Michaela Fletcher is currently fourth for Memphis with a 147 (+2), while Leighann Cabush is a stroke back and tied for fifth with Houston Baptist's Giorgia Carletti and Kaity Cummings.
Emily Goldenstein is the third Lady Tiger scorer, and is currently tied for 15th with a two-round 152. Goldenstein shaved six strokes off her morning round to card a 73 (+2) in the second round. Sophomore Sydney Colwill is also in the top 20 through the first day of the event. Colwill opened her morning with a 74 (+3), then carded an 80 in the second round.
Defending individual medalist Madison Thomas bounced back from a tough morning round to card a 77 in the second round and is currently tied for 59th with a day one 163. Freshman teammate Ellie Youree, playing in her first collegiate event at Ridgeway is a stroke back at 164.
Memphis' other freshman, Abby Herrmann, is also competing as an individual and is currently in the top 10 through two rounds. Herrmann posted a 74 (+3) in her first round, then followed that with a 77.
Memphis' 598 is good for the one stroke lead over Houston Baptist (499). Murray State (604), FIU (61) and Tennessee Tech (613) round out the top five.
