Elliott and Hall Garner Weekly Honors From The American

Eighth career honor for Elliott and first for Hall
MEMPHIS – Senior place kicker Jake Elliott and redshirt freshman hybrid linebacker Austin Hall were each named the American Athletic Conference player of the week on Monday. It is the eighth career Special Teams Player of the Week honor for Elliott and is the first Defensive Player of the week honor for Hall. Hall was also named the CollegeSportsMadness.com conference Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday.
Elliott, who became Memphis' all-time leading scorer in the win over Temple two weeks ago, was a perfect 3-for-3 in field goals on Friday in the win at Tulane. Elliott's third field goal, a 50-yard attempt, tied moved the Western Springs, Ill., native with Stephen Gostkowski for the Memphis career record for field goals made (70). The senior also added to his consecutive point-after streak, extending it to 171-for-171, the longest active consecutive PAT made streak in NCAA FBS football. The 50-yard field goal was also Elliott's 10th career make from 50 yards or more.
Elliott also successfully launched an on-side kick that was recovered by Hall in the first quarter, and helped hold Tulane to just 17.7 yards on kick-off returns, knocking two balls out of the end zone for touchbacks.
Hall, who recovered Elliott's on-side kick, is earning his first career honor from the American Athletic Conference. The redshirt freshman finished the win at Tulane with a career-best 12 tackles, including three TFL and a fumble recovery to go with the on-side kick recovery. The Collierville High School graduate is now second on the Tiger roster with 36 tackles on the season and leads Memphis with six tackles for loss. He has started all six games at the star hybrid linebacker position and is one of four freshmen who started in the win at Tulane for the Tigers.
Memphis continues its road slate against West Division foes on Saturday, playing at Navy for the first time in Tiger history, Saturday. That game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. (CT) and will air on the CBS Sports Network (CBSSN).
