MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's golf team will host its lone home event of the season, starting Monday at Ridgeway Country Club. The 2016 Memphis Women's Intercollegiate will feature two rounds of play on Monday and a third round of play Tuesday. Tee times begin both mornings at 8:15 a.m. in a shotgun start.
All nine Lady Tiger golfers will compete in the home event. Michaela Fletcher, Leighann Cabush, Madison Thomas, Sydney Colwill and Emily Goldenstein will make up the team entry while Megan Beane, Abby Herrmann, Andrea Cropper and Ellie Youree compete as individual entries in the tournament.
Memphis is one of 13 teams in the field for this year's event. The Lady Tigers will be joined by competitors from Cal State Fullerton, Chattanooga, FIU, Houston Baptist, IUPUI, Missouri State, Murray State, Samford, South Alabama, Tennessee Tech, UAB and Western Kentucky.
Memphis is the defending team champion in this year's event after placing five players in the top 10 last season. Sophomore Madison Thomas is the defending individual medalist, after defeating teammate Ashleigh Whisenant in a sudden death playoff for the win in her first collegiate tournament last season.
