MEMPHIS – A pair of Memphis offensive linemen are currently in camps preparing for a pair of Saturday, senior all-star games. Offensive lineman Taylor Fallin will play for the East team in the 91st East-West Shrine Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Ryan Mack will play for Team American in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl at the StubHub Center on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Fallin began practice for the East-West Shrine Game on Monday, and is playing for the East team coached by former Notre Dame and Kansas coach Charlie Weis. The 6-6, 330-pound offensive lineman was a first-team all-conference honoree last season, helping Memphis to a 9-4 overall record. He appeared in 45 career games at Memphis, including 33 starts in the last three years, protecting the blind side of quarterback and fellow NFL prospect Paxton Lynch.
The East-West Shrine Game will air on the NFL Network, Saturday, at 3 p.m. (CT). A live radio broadcast of the game is available in Memphis on KQPN AM730, on Sirius Channel 136, XM Channel 201 or Sirius XM Channel 88.
Also a member of the offensive line, Mack was a mid-year addition in January of 2015, joining the Memphis roster after graduating from the University of Louisville. Mack appeared in eight games for the Tigers last season at right tackle. Prior to joining the Tigers, he started 19 straight games at Louisville, including the first seven games of his junior year. A 6-5, 310-pound lineman, Mack graduated from Wooddale High School in Memphis and first played in Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl high school all-star game in 2011.
At pre-game practices, Mack will be coached by seven-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson. Playing for Team American, which is coached this season by former Green Bay and Seattle head coach Mike Holmgren, Mack and his team will face off against Team National Saturday, at 5 p.m. (CT) in a game that will air on ESPN2.
Both linemen were part of a record-setting Memphis offense this past season. The Tigers set a school single season record for points (522), touchdowns scored (64), offensive yards (6,330), most first downs passing (172) and total first downs (322). The Tigers' third-down conversion rate of 48.8 percent ranked eighth in the country and the Tigers' offense, which averaged 40.2 ppg, ranked 11th in the final FBS stats.
