Women’s Golf Moves to Tie for Fifth at Golfweek Conference Challenge

Whisenant tied for fourth through two rounds.
MEMPHIS – The Lady Tiger golf team jumped four spots in the standings at the Golfweek Conference Challenge after a second round 298 and moved in to a tie for fifth overall in the 16-team field at the Red Sky Golf Club, Tuesday. Memphis is now tied at 604 with Arizona State and trails San Diego State (580), Denver (586), TCU (588) and Campbell (596).
Freshman Madison Thomas carded an even par 72 on the second of the three-day competition, posting three birdies on the backside to move to a tie for 28th overall. Senior Ashleigh Whisenant carded a 73 (+1) and is tied for fourth in the individual medalist race. San Diego State's Emma Henrikson leads the field at 139 following the second-round low score of 67 on Tuesday. Savannah Knox (Long Beach State), Georgia Lacy (San Diego State) round out the top three, followed by Whisenant, Isabel Southard (Denver) and Sirene Blair (San Diego State).
Emily Goldenstein posted par on seven straight holes to end her second round with a day two 75 (+3), while Leighann Cabush and Sydney Colwill each carded 78s (+6) in the second round.
Memphis wraps up participation in the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Wednesday. Memphis will begin their third rounds at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun start. Memphis will go off holes four, five and six. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
