Tigers Top UT Martin, 2-1, in 16 Innings

MILLINGTON, Tenn. -- Damo DeMatteo lined a walk-off single in the 16th inning to give Memphis a 2-1 win over UT Martin in the Babe Howard Classic Tuesday night at USA Stadium.
UT Martin took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run to open the game, while Memphis tied it with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the game into extras.
Five Memphis pitchers, Caleb Wallingford, Colton Hathcock, Craig Caufield, Nolan Blackwood and Blake Myers, combined for 15 2/3 scoreless innings.
The two teams combined to leave 35 men on base.
In the ninth, Brandon Montgomery led off with a single and stole second base. With two outs in the inning and down to the final strike of the game, Darien Tubbs legged out an infield single and Montgomery came all the way around to score from second base to tie the game.
Tucker Tubbs was hit by a pitch to start the 16th inning and was sacrificed to second base. Corey Chafin was hit by a pitch to put to runners on base before DeMatteo delivered the game-winning hit to left field.
Myers improved to 4-0 this season with the win.
