Birmingham Bowl preparation, activities begin for Memphis

After a four-day holiday break, the University of Memphis football team came back together Saturday afteroon in Birmingham, Ala., to begin preparation and activities surrounding the Birmingham Bowl. Memphis plays Auburn Wednesday, Dec. 30th, at 11 a.m. in the 10th Birmingham Bowl.
Tickets remain on sale online through www.gotigersgotix.com and are $50 each plus a $10 handling fee per order. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets through the Memphis Ticket Office online site to guarantee seating in Memphis sections at the game. Online ticket sales will continue through Dec. 29.
Tickets purchased will be available at will call locations up until the game.
A will call office will be open on Monday and Tuesday at the Sheraton Birmingham, 2101 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. North. The Memphis Ticket Office will be set up at the Medical Forum Registration Desk at the hotel (enter doors off 22nd Street and proceed straight up the escalator) from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, and again from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
On the game of the game, fans can pick up their tickets at Legion Field Gate 5B starting at 9 a.m. Staff will remain at that location through the conclusion of the second quarter.
Memphis will practice for the first time since Dec. 22 on Sunday morning at Birmingham Southern College. The Tigers will also practice Monday at Birmingham Southern.
The remainder of the next two days will include joint team functions including visits to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Children's of Alabama hospital and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. The two teams will also attend an event at the Stardome Comedy Club and take part in a bowling and barbecue challenge at Vestavia Bowl.
Memphis Fans should plan to attend the Uptown Street Fest on Tuesday wil a Memphis pep rally set for 5:30 p.m. in Uptown Birmingham located near the team hotel.
Game day will begin with the UofM Alumni Association True Blue Tailgate & Pep Rally at 9 a.m. at the Outback Steakhouse Fan Zone on the East Side of Legion Field. A complimentary breakfast will be available. The Mighty Sound of the South and Cheer and Pom will join the crowd at the Tailgate for a Pep Rally at 9:30 a.m.Â
