Fister leads team to win over N.C. State.

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Junior Amy Fister posted a career-high aggregate score as the University of Memphis rifle squad placed third at the Gamecock Invitational last weekend. The team's score also was used in a head-to-head Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) match with N.C. State, and the Tigers posted a win over the Wolfpack.

Memphis narrowly missed a second-place finish at the Gamecock Invitational, coming in third by just a point behind Jacksonville State 4644-4643. The Tigers placed second in smallbore and third in air rifle. Murray State won the event with a 4705 aggregate score.

The Tigers' scores also were used in their match against No. 10 N.C. State, and No. 7 Memphis posted a 4643-4635 win over the Wolfpack. The Tigers narrowly out-shot N.C. State in both smallbore (2302-2297) and air rifle (2341-2338).

The Gamecock Invitational and match vs. N.C. State wrapped up the fall portion of the Tigers' 2015-16 schedule. Memphis returns to action Jan. 24 at the Withrow Invitational in Murray, Ky.

Fister tied for fourth overall in the Gamecock Invitational with her career-high 1172 aggregate score. Her previous career-best aggregate score was 1168 at last year's Withrow Invitational.

Fister shot a 582 in smallbore and tied her career best in air rifle with a 590. She placed sixth in smallbore and seventh in air rifle at the Gamecock Invitational. All of her scores were second in the match against N.C. State.

In the Gamecock Invitational, sophomore Makennon Doran was the squad's second-highest finisher in smallbore (14^th; 574), while sophomore Haylea Broughton followed Fister in air rifle, coming in 11^th (587). Against the Wolfpack, Doran's smallbore score was fourth, and Broughton's air rifle result was third.
