Junior middle posted 10 blocks in 3-0 win at UCF.
MEMPHIS – Junior middle Summer Morgan was named to the American Athletic Conference's weekly honor roll after helping Memphis to a 1-1 road week last weekend. The Springdale, Ark., native became the first Tiger this season to post double-digit blocks in a 3-0 win against defending conference champs, UCF, Friday. Morgan, who finished with 10 total blocks, including four solos, is just the 13th player in Tiger history to have 10 or more blocks in a match.
On the year, Morgan leads Memphis with 128 total blocks, including 23 solos. She is just 15 blocks shy of breaking in to the Memphis top 10 with two regular season matches remaining.
Morgan is the fifth different Tiger to earn a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll. She joins teammates Catlin Lilly (Sept. 7), Oluchi Agomuo (Sept. 28), Mady Ruhlman (Oct. 26) and Lindsey Purvis (Nov. 9) in earning a spot on the five-player honor roll.
Memphis closes out its season this week, hosting Tulane, Wednesday, at 7 p.m., then hosting Houston, Friday, at noon in the season finale. The Tigers, who sport a 17-14 overall record, will honor their three seniors before the Houston game. Seniors Torika Baleilekutu, Lindsey Purvis, and Veronica Zimmerman will all be honored in pre-game festivities, beginning at 11:55 a.m.
