Memphis' van Meijel Tabbed American Men's Golf Player of the Month

UofM junior had three, top-five finishes in October

Memphis junior Lars van Meijel was named the American Men's Golf Player of the Month for the month of October, the league announced on Monday.

Van Meijel helped lead the Tigers to the team's second tournament title of the fall during the month.

The junior had three, top-five individual finishes last month and posted four scores in the 60s during his final six rounds o the fall season.

Van Meijel's second-round 65 at the Pinetree Intercollegiate helped seal top medalist honors at the event.

In addition to winning the Pinetree Intercollegiate, Memphis finished second at the WKU Kenny Perry Invitational and was fifth at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational in a field that featured 10 of GolfStat's top-100 teams. Van Meijel was the runner-up at Quail Valley after posting a three-round score of 206 (68-69-69).

For the fall season, Memphis' head-to-head record was 43-5 (.895).

Memphis is ranked No. 40 in the latest Golfweek Men's Team Collegiate Ratings.
