Jake Elliott Named American Special Teams Player of the Week

Second award of season for junior kicker.
MEMPHIS – Junior kicker Jake Elliott has been named the American Athletic Conference's special teams player of the week for the second time this season it was announced Monday. Elliott scored 13 points for the Tigers in a 41-13 win over visiting Tulane last week, including a trio of field goals.
With the three field goals made, Elliott moved to a tie for second on the Memphis career field goals made list. He is now tied with former Tiger Joe Allison with 51 career field goals made. Elliott was also 4-for-4 on PATs and is now 128-of-128 on point after kicks for his Memphis career.
This is Elliott's seventh special teams player of the week award and is the Tigers' fifth win of the special teams award this season. Teammates Roderick Proctor (Sept 7), Spencer Smith (Sept 28) and Nick Jacobs (Oct 5) have also won the award once this season. Elliott won his first weekly award on Sept. 21st this year.
Elliott's teammate, Paxton Lynch, was also named to the American's Weekly Honor Roll after completing 26 of 42 passes for 343 yards in the win over Tulane.
Memphis remains home this week to host Navy, Saturday, at 6 p.m. in a game that will be televised on ESPN2.
Also announced on Monday, the Tigers' game next week at Houston has been selected by ESPN as part of its six-day pick option. A game time for the road game in Houston will be announced on Saturday.
