Nov 17, 2015 | Baseball
Independence High School (Franklin, Tenn.) left-handed pitcher Tommy Morren has signed his National Letter of Intent and will join the University of Memphis baseball squad, head coach Daron Schoenrock announced Tuesday.
Â
"Our coaching staff feels that Tommy hasn't scratched the surface of how good he can be. He possesses great feel for his secondary pitches and has the ability to compete for a significant role very early at Memphis," said Schoenrock.
Â
Morren posted a 1.30 ERA in 55 innings pitched with 72 strikeouts as an all-district pitcher for Independence High School in 2014. He tossed a one-hitter against Franklin High School in which he struck out 13 batters during the 2014 season. Played for a team that claimed the 2014 18U Perfect Game WWBC Championship. In addition to playing baseball for four seasons at Independence, he also played basketball as a freshman.
Â
Morren, who was born in Atlanta, Ga., is the son of Randy and Lou Morren.
