Get To Know Me: Bailey Kennemer

Today's "Get To Know Me" shines on Bailey Kennemer. She ran in four meets as a freshman in 2014, and also earned Dean's List and Tiger 3.0 Club honors both semesters last year. This Tigers sophomore knows how to travel well (as you'll read below), and oh, she has a pet hamster, too.

Sport-Related

How did you get into distance running? In seventh grade, every girl that competed in athletics was required to run track. I was put in the distance events and ended up loving it.
What has been your most embarrassing moment in a meet/event? It was pretty embarrassing to pee in my pants at a meet.
How many times have people told you distance running is outrageous? How do you respond to them? I've got that distance running is crazy on countless occasions. I generally agree with the person.
If you weren't a distance runner, what track and field event would you like to compete in? I would love to be 100-meter hurdler.
What is the best advice you can give to young distance runners? I would say to stay positive mentally and try to enjoy yourself.

Pop Culture

Read the book or watch the movie? Why? Read the book. The characters are richer, the plot fuller and the ending is always better.
Which form of social media do you prefer the most? Why? Vsco.co. I love being able to follow different photographers from around the world.
What song can you not help to sing along to? You can never go wrong with some Nickelback, especially Rock Star.

Miscellaneous

When not at practice, what can someone find you doing? Playing with my hamster, Nacho.
What did you do this past summer? My summer rocked! I went backpacking in the Rockies, hiking in Big Bend (National Park) and snorkeling off a little island in the Pacific Ocean.
If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money? Buy a sail boat and sail around the world. I would stop in India for a month to explore and experience the culture there.
Do you have a hidden talent? If so, explain. I can drop in the splits whenever I want. That's pretty fun and usually gets some laughs.
If you were a superhero, what super power would you have? I would like to have the ability to fly. Whenever I wanted to fly, I would want to sprout some wings and that would fall off when I landed.
If you could compete in another sport, which sport would it be? Why? Rowing. It's fun and would give me killer arm muscles.
