Get To Know Me: Kristen Adams
Oct 06, 2015 | Women's Cross Country
Tigers sophomore earned all-conference honors in 2014.
The "Get To Know Me" series features Kristen Adams today. The sophomore has yet to compete in 2015 as a result of rehabbing an injury, but looks to return soon. As a freshman in 2014, Adams was the team's top finisher in five of the six meets and earned All-American Athletic Conference honors. She earned a 4.0 grade-point average and was named to the Dean's List both semesters in 2014-15.

Sport-Related
- How did you get into distance running? My high school English teacher who was also the cross country coach suggested it to my mom at parent-teacher conferences because he knew I played soccer and enjoyed conditioning.
- What has been your most embarrassing moment in a meet/event? I'm too embarrassed to share it. But, I'll pick a back-up which is when I went about 100m in the wrong direction on a cross country course in my first high school conference race.
- How many times have people told you distance running is outrageous? How do you respond to them? I've lost count, but I just smile and shrug my shoulders because I don't know how to respond. If you have to explain it to them, then they'll probably never understand. It takes a certain kind of crazy to enjoy it I suppose.
- If you weren't a distance runner, what track and field event would you like to compete in? Definitely the pole vault
- What is the best advice you can give to young distance runners? Be sure you let yourself enjoy running while working hard. And be sure to get proper rest and do injury prevention because injuries are the devil.
Pop Culture
- Read the book or watch the movie? Why? Read the book and then watch the movie so you can picture all of the characters and settings in your mind first.
- Which form of social media do you prefer the most? Why? Snapchat. I find it amusing to take funny pictures and send them to friends.
- What song can you not help to sing along to? Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney. (My dream is to be serenaded by it one day)
Miscellaneous
- When not at practice, what can someone find you doing? Eating, doing homework and Netflixing.
- What did you do this past summer? Worked, biked and ran. I also went to an Imagine Dragons concert which was really good.
- Do you have an interesting nickname? Any story behind the nickname? Midget Hobbit Smurf Monkey. Given to me my older brother and his friends, but that was before I grew an inch in college last year.
- If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money? I have no clue. I guess save it until I decided what to do with it.
- Do you have a hidden talent? I can touch my nose with my tongue.
- If you were a superhero, what super power would you have? Telekinesis or Flying. I can't decide. I think they both would be pretty cool.
- If you could compete in another sport, which sport would it be? Why? Soccer, because I loved it and played it for a long time until I gave it up for running.
