Wind and Sohn Battle Eight Seeds at All-American
Oct 06, 2015 | Women's Tennis
Duo comes back from 3-0 down and forces tiebreak.
PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. – The duo of Anki Wind and Hanna Sohn took the No. 8 seeded team of Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic to a tiebreak, coming back from 3-0 down, but fell 8-7 (4) in the first round of the qualifying doubles draw of the Riviera ITA All-American, Tuesday.
"It was a great match," Head Coach Hayden Perez said. "The girls got down 3-0, but fought back to go up 4-3. At 4-3, we lost a tough game that could have made it 5 games in a row and it would have been 5-3. Every game was tough. At 6-5, we had another game point to go up 7-5, but didn't get it. The 6-6 game was tough. The no-ad scoring adds a different dynamic and feel to a match. You have a break point and a point to hold at the same time, that doesn't happen in the old scoring system. One or two points can decide a match. I'm proud of the girls. They played really well."
The duo will play a consolation match before returning home to Memphis to prepare for the next ITA event on the college tennis calendar – the ITA Regional Championships. Memphis will compete in the Ohio Valley Region, Oct. 15-19 at Purdue University.
