Junior takes out singles draw top seed on day one.

MEMPHIS – Junior Anki Wind advanced to the round of 64 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over top seeded Cindy Nguyen of Hawaii-Monoa in the first round of the Riviera/ITA All-American prequalifying draw, Saturday. With the win, Wind advances to a second round match against Notre Dame's Monica Robinson.

Teammate Marta Morga also competed in the first round, falling to No. 4 seeded Kimmy Guerin of Wake Forest, 6-2, 6-2.

Wind and Hannah Sohn, the top seed in the doubles draw, will open doubles play, Sunday, at 10 a.m. (PT) against the Fresno State team of Watts and Watts.

Meanwhile, three of their Lady Tiger teammates were in action in the second day of the Purdue Invitational. Sophomore Tara McElroy picked up a singles win over Notre Dame's Darby Mountford, 6-2, 6-1 while teammates Kathryn Hughes and Janina Berres won their consolation doubles semifinal match, 7-5, to advance to the consolation finals. The duo fought to a tiebreak in the final, but fell 7-6 (6) in the breaker.
