Lynch Named TSWA Offensive Player of the Week

University of Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch has been named the Offensive Player of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association for his effort last week.
Lynch posted his second straight TSWA honor and third this season, establishing a new school record with 447 passing yards in the Tigers' 66-42 win over Tulsa. The Deltona, Fla. native completed 32-of-44 passes with four touchdowns to extend Memphis' current win streak to 14 games, including eight straight on the road. The junior added a three-yard scoring run in the win.
The game marked his second 400-yard passing game this season and he has passed for 300-plus yards in six straight games. Lynch had three pass completions of 45-plus yards and a total of eight pass plays of 20-plus yards in the win. Memphis set a school record for total yards of offense with 704 yards in the game while the 66 points scored ranks as the third-highest in school history.
Lynch has completed 72 percent of his passes for 2,366 yards with 17 touchdowns and one interception this season for the Tigers, who are 7-0 overall and host Tulane this Saturday.
The TSWA's Defensive Player of the Week is Carson-Newman's Xavier McFadden.
McFadden made career-high 12 tackles, including 10 in the first half, to lead the Eagles' defense to a win at 21st-ranked Wingate College. It marked the third double-digit tackle performance of the season for the Rock Hill, S.C., native.
