Overall thoughts…
“I thought we continued to improve. I feel like our energy was a little low. The gym was hot today and I think our girls got fatigued early. Our foul trouble in the first half forced us to play Asia and Mooriah all 20 minutes. I thought we played hard, but I think at moments when the game was on the line, our sense of urgency wasn't there. We were too laid back and we missed too many elbow jumpers. That was the shot we were trying to get and we couldn't bury it. That's the story of the last two games: we've gotten the shots we wanted, we just couldn't make them. We have to have a sense of urgency when they go on a run or to get over a screen. That's what I'm still looking for from this team. I think we played reasonably well, but that's not good enough.”
On Minnesota's defense…
“They weren't trapping us as much. They played their zone wide and we were reluctant to move in the passing lane. We have to get better. There are so many things that we can clean up right now. We can be a pretty good basketball team. I have to find somebody to fire them up when the moment calls for us.”
On who needs to step up and lead the team…
“It's got to be Ariel and Breigha, but I need to see Asia, who is our defensive juggernaut, come with it a little bit. I think we had two games that were winnable and we didn't get it done. That's not to take anything away from the teams we were playing. You saw a little bit of Rachel Banham today. We did a nice job on her.”
On the upcoming schedule…
“I don't know much about Southern Illinois, but their head coach used to be at Missouri so I'm familiar with that. They play a little bit of zone. They play aggressive half-court man. Arkansas-Little Rock is a good basketball team. They have good fundamentals. If we don't play good basketball, they'll beat us again. They've had a couple really big wins this year and the road doesn't get any easier for us.”
On what she would like to see improved…
“I want to see the indecision go away. There's no one on this floor that should be indecisive. I want a see a team that executes in the critical moments of the game. I'm not displeased with our team, I think we have a good focus and energy.
