MEMPHIS, TENN.- Behind five points from freshman forward Tine Schryvers and three points by Madison Oyer, No. 21 Memphis (1-1-0) downed ASU (2-2-0) 4-0 on Friday at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
ASU threatened early as Christina Fink took a shot to the right post that was deflected by Memphis' goalkeeper Becca Brown for the save. Brown finished the game with four saves on the night, sharing a shut-out with fellow goalkeeper Christa Strickland.
The Tigers got on the board first in the 13th-minute when Christabel Oduro took the ball down the left side then served to the middle where Schryvers buried a shot to the back right post to give Memphis a 1-0 advantage. The assist was Oduro's first of the season, with the goal Schryvers second.
Memphis struck again in the 34th-minute on a header by Kaitlyn Atkins. Taylor Isenhower served the ball from the right side into the box, Atkins headed the ball to the post for her first goal of the season giving the Tigers 2-0 lead. In the first half, Memphis racked up 12 shots, five corners and three saves.
Memphis stayed on the attack in the second-half, taking a 3-0 lead in the 53rd-mintue. Schryvers took a shot that was initially deflected by ASU goalkeeper Audrey Baldwin, Madison Oyer then buried the deflection straight away from eight-yards for the goal. Memphis now carries an 88-6-2 record all-time when scoring at least three goals in a game.
The Tigers kept the pressure on the Red Wolves tacking on a fourth goal in the 64th-minunte. Oyer gathered the ball in the middle of the field then passed to Alex Craig who touched the ball past the ASU keeper, Schryvers then finished the play for her second score of the night.
Memphis finished the night with four goals on 17 shots with four saves. The win over the Red Wolves now gives the Tigers a 34-15-5 record, dating back to 2002, when rebounding from a loss.
